Amar Ujala’s sting operation on liquor sale at Chandigarh ISBT-43 has had a big impact. After the disclosure of illegal liquor sale at counter number-5, the station supervisor has been suspended, while the security supervisor has been fired from the job. Despite having the name, mobile number and vehicle number of the liquor seller, the police has not taken any action till now.
Amar Ujala published a news titled ‘Counter number five of ISBT-43 becomes liquor shop’ in its May 17 issue. After this, the transport department informed that a written complaint was given to the SSP in this regard 8 months ago. This complaint was made by the director of the department. Despite this, no action was taken. However, Amar Ujala had raised questions on this answer that if liquor continued to be sold even after giving the complaint 8 months ago, then why did the department not complain again or follow up. On this, the department officials have taken strict action by holding the station supervisor and security supervisor of the bus stand responsible. The department has suspended station supervisor Jang Singh with immediate effect and fired security supervisor Ashok.
Department director Pradyuman Singh said that zero tolerance policy is adopted against intoxication. Any kind of negligence will not be tolerated. Let us tell you that after the publication of the news, the department has again written a letter to the SSP and demanded immediate action against the person selling liquor.
Big question – Why is the police protecting the accused?
The complaint sent by the transport department also mentions the name of the accused. Apart from this, the police also has the mobile number of that person and the number of the vehicle in which he used to sell liquor.
Amar Ujala had also published the photo and number of the vehicle in the news but till now the police has not done anything. It seems that the police is deliberately protecting the accused. Questions also arise because there is a police post just a few steps away from the place where the liquor was being sold, yet the liquor continued to be sold. The policemen of ISBT-43 police post are constantly being accused of protecting the liquor sellers.
The case of illegal sale of liquor at counter number five of ISBT-43 is under investigation. Everything will be clear in two to three days. After that action will be taken against the responsible policemen.
