Haryana State Information Commission will get 5 State Information Commissioners including the new Chief Information Commissioner next week. The government had approved the name of retired IAS and former Chief Secretary of the state TVSN Prasad for the post of Chief Information Commissioner.
The name of former HCS officer Amarjit Singh has been included as Information Commissioner. While other private individuals including a woman have been appointed on the other 4 State Information Commissioner posts. According to government sources, a ceremony has been organized to administer oath to the new commissioners at Haryana Niwas on May 26.
For this, the file has been sent to the Raj Bhavan by the government. All the officials including Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Chief Minister Nayab Saini will be present in the oath ceremony. A notification will be issued by the Haryana government in this regard soon.
Consensus on names reached in the meeting 2 days ago
A meeting was held two days ago under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nayab Saini regarding appointments in the Haryana State Information Commission. Former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda also attended this meeting from the opposition side.
In this meeting, the names of former Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad and 5 Information Commissioners were approved for the post of Chief Information Commissioner.
Among retired officers, Prasad and Amarjeet got the chance
In the new appointments made in the State Information Commission, only retired IAS TVSN Prasad and HCS Amarjeet Singh have got the chance. While more than a dozen retired officers had applied for these posts. Among them, former IAS Ankur Gupta and Alok Nigam were also contenders for the post of Chief Information Commissioner.
Many retired IAS and IPS officers had also applied for the post of Information Commissioner, but the government has appointed Amarjeet, a woman Priyanka and other private persons on 5 posts of Information Commissioner.
Shekhawat of Rajasthan has additional charge of Chief Information Commissioner
Recently, due to delay in the appointments of Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners, the government had given additional charge of Chief Information Commissioner to Information Commissioner Pradeep Shekhawat in Haryana. This order was issued by the Chief Secretary of the state late night on 16 May. Shekhawat is a resident of Tain village in Jhunjhunu district. He has been active in Rajasthan for about 34 years through journalism.
