The Haryana government has given a big relief to the women who took loan for self-employment from Haryana Mahila Vikas Nigam. Actually, 7305 women who took loan from the corporation could not repay the loan due to some reasons. In view of their situation, Rs 6 crore 63 lakh outstanding on women has been waived. This includes Rs 3 crore 82 lakh of principal amount and Rs 2 crore 81 lakh of interest. Along with this, this amount will be paid by the Women and Child Development Department to save the Women Development Corporation from financial burden.
According to the order issued by Sudhir Rajpal, Additional Chief Secretary, Women and Development Department, the principal and interest of women who could not repay the outstanding amount till June 30, 2024 has been waived.
Loan up to one and a half lakh is available
To make women self-reliant in rural and urban areas, a loan of up to one lakh 50 thousand rupees is given by the Women Development Corporation under the Personal Loan Scheme. Those women, whose annual income is not more than one lakh 80 thousand rupees and no member of their family is an income tax payer, can take advantage of the scheme for other works including sewing, embroidery, grocery, money making, readymade garments, clothes shop, stationery, boutique and general store.
The government also gives subsidy on loans
On loan, the Mahila Vikas Nigam gives a subsidy of 25 thousand rupees to the women of scheduled caste and a maximum of 10 thousand rupees to the women of other categories, while the remaining amount is arranged from cooperative banks. Officials of Mahila Bal Vikas Nigam said that many women have benefited from this government scheme and are also doing good business.
