On the 85th day of the war against drugs, Punjab Police on Sunday arrested 158 drug peddlers. Police recovered 10.1 kg heroin, 1.3 kg opium and drug money worth Rs 19,040 from the possession of the accused. The total number of drug peddlers arrested under the operation so far has gone up to 13,449.
Special DGP Law and Order, Arpit Shukla informed that more than 220 police teams comprising more than 1700 personnel under the supervision of 98 gazetted officers raided 445 places across the state and 104 FIRs were registered. He informed that during the day-long operation, police teams also interrogated 456 suspicious persons.
The Special DGP said that a three-pronged strategy – enforcement, de-addiction and prevention (EDP) – has been implemented by the state government for the complete elimination of drugs. Under this, Punjab Police today motivated 109 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment as part of ‘Nashamukti’.
Punjab Police (Punjab Drug Bust) has arrested 158 drug smugglers and recovered huge amount of heroin opium and drug money under the campaign against drugs. Police conducted raids across the state and registered 104 FIRs. As part of de-addiction efforts, 109 persons have been motivated to undergo rehabilitation treatment.
