The steps taken by the Bhagwant Mann government to curb gun culture in Punjab are showing results. In the last two years, no new song promoting gun culture and gangsters has come out. In 2022, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had issued strict orders regarding possession and display of guns.
The order said that guns will not be displayed online or offline. Songs that glorify weapons or violence were strictly banned. Apart from this, all the licenses issued for weapons in the state were reviewed.
No one is being given a new license for a weapon unless the DC personally recommends it. Apart from this, firing at weddings or other events is considered a crime. Cases have been registered against those violating the rules and strict action is being taken.
Surprise checks are being conducted from time to time to stop gun culture. More than 100 cases have been registered in Punjab so far for promoting gun culture. Apart from this, if someone makes a hate speech against any community, then the police is taking immediate strict action against him.
Let us tell you that after coming to power, Chief Minister Mann had warned those singers who used to talk about weapons or guns in their songs. He had condemned the gun culture in Punjab and said that people should not try to spread enmity and violence in the society through their songs.
Punjabi singers should sing such songs which make us proud of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat. The feeling of brotherhood, peace and harmony should be strengthened. Apart from this, efforts can be made to eliminate social evils and awaken new consciousness.
