Transport departments in Canada and the United States have recently tightened their enforcement of truck drivers, especially migrant drivers. This step was taken following several recent major truck accidents.
According to sources, Canada’s Transport Department has taken action, terminating the services of lax inspectors, revoking the accreditation of five driving training centers, and revoking hundreds of licenses. Nine inspectors have been dismissed in Alberta, while drivers whose licenses have been revoked have been directed to renew their licenses by taking a retest.
According to sources, Ontario has also begun preparations for similar crackdowns. Other states are also in the process of tightening traffic rules and granting special powers to the police. Experts say this step is necessary to reduce road accidents and bring transparency to the driving system.
