Punjab Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the Punjab government is fully committed to protecting the dignity and rights of Scheduled Caste communities and providing justice to victims of atrocities.
She stated that an amount of ₹1.34 crore has been released to victims and beneficiaries during the financial year 2025–26 under the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. The Minister further stated that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is determined to build a Punjab free from discrimination and injustice. She said, “Our government stands firmly with the victims and their families and is ensuring they receive timely financial assistance, protection, and rehabilitation.”
Dr. Baljit Kaur further stated that continuous awareness campaigns, strict monitoring, and prompt action mechanisms are being strengthened to effectively implement the Prevention of Atrocities Act across the state. He reiterated that promoting equality, human dignity and social harmony is one of the key priorities of the Punjab Government.
