A Punjab Roadways bus carrying around 40 passengers from Chandigarh suddenly overturned around 8 a.m. today. Reportedly, the bus was carrying around 40 passengers. The overturning caused widespread panic. Police and local residents arrived at the scene and rescued the passengers trapped inside the overturned bus. Two passengers sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to Civil Hospital, Samrala, for treatment. The remaining passengers suffered minor injuries and abrasions, but all survived.
Bus staff and eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the bus’s rod belt broke while it was moving, causing the bus to suddenly lose control and overturn. The accident occurred just as the bus was entering Samrala city from the main highway. According to hospital authorities, the condition of both injured passengers is now stable.
