Kalanaur police have registered a case against a husband and wife for the murder of a man and have successfully arrested the wife. Inspector Amritpal Singh stated that Lakhwinder Kaur, wife of Sukhwinder Singh, resident of Kadia Wali Sadar, Gurdaspur, stated in a statement at the police station that she had come to visit her brother Bahadur Singh in their ancestral village, Bishankot.
Last night, she, her brother Bahadur Singh, and her son Manjot Singh were at home when they heard a commotion in the street outside. When they went outside, the accused, Sukhwinder Singh alias Bitta, son of Harbhajan Singh, and Pal Kaur, wife of Harbhajan Singh, residents of Bishankot, were standing there. Upon seeing them, Sukhwinder Singh struck Bahadur Singh on the head with an iron rod, injuring him. He was admitted to a private hospital in Gurdaspur for treatment.
Bahadur Singh’s condition was critical and he was referred to Amritsar. He died on the way from Amritsar to PGI Chandigarh. Based on Lakhwinder Kaur’s statement, a case has been registered against the accused, Sukhwinder Singh alias Bitta, and his wife, Pal Kaur, and the latter has been arrested, the police officer said. Sukhwinder Singh remains at large. A search is underway to arrest him.
