Punjab Education Minister and MLA from Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, Harjot Singh Bains, today presented a significant gift to the people of his constituency. He announced that modern water treatment plants are being installed in the city, providing the residents of Nangal with clean and pure water from the Sutlej River. The total cost of this project will be ₹16 crore, and residents will begin receiving clean water from the Sutlej River within the next 18 months.
Harjot Singh Bains stated that tenders worth ₹16 crore have already been issued. Two new water treatment plants will be installed and the capacity of four existing plants will be expanded. He stated that this will ensure clean and pure water is available to every household in Nangal within the next 18 months. He also stated that the groundwater in the city is undrinkable, and it is ironic that the residents of the city where the Sutlej River originates are facing drinking water problems. He said that previous governments did not take any concrete steps in this direction.
