Late this evening, hundreds of people in Jalandhar held a peaceful candlelight vigil demanding an investigation and justice into the death of renowned bodybuilder and actor Varinder Ghuman. A large number of Varinder Ghuman’s family members, friends, gym trainers, sports enthusiasts, and ordinary citizens participated in the vigil. They stated that Varinder’s death occurred under “mysterious and suspicious circumstances,” and that the Fortis Hospital administration in Amritsar was directly responsible.
The family alleged that Varinder was admitted to the hospital for a minor operation but died suddenly as soon as he was taken to the operating theater. They allege that the hospital administration attempted to conceal the real cause of death and misled the family for a long time. The protesters demanded an impartial investigation into the entire matter and strict action against those responsible for the negligence that claimed the life of a healthy young bodybuilder.
Varinder Ghuman, who was internationally renowned for his bodybuilding, recently went to Fortis Hospital in Amritsar for a minor operation. However, he died just hours later. His death has sent shockwaves through the sports and fitness community across Punjab.
