E-challans have been implemented at major intersections in Jalandhar. Around 300 e-challans are being issued daily against those violating traffic rules. ADCP (Operations and Security) Vineet Kumar provided this information. He stated that in the approximately 14 days since the e-challan system was launched, more than 4,000 challans have been issued. During this period, the majority of challans were issued for jumping red lights.
The ADCP further explained that the state-of-the-art cameras installed under the ITMS (Intelligent Traffic Management System) are capable of detecting other violations such as driving in the wrong direction or stopping vehicles on zebra crossings. However, currently, challans are only being issued for jumping red lights.
