Gangster Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggu Bhagwanpuria has filed a petition in the High Court regarding his safety. He has expressed apprehension that he could be eliminated in a “fake encounter” while in police custody or that rival gangsters could attack him. He was currently in judicial custody in Silchar Central Jail, Assam, in connection with various cases.
According to reports, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria has been brought to Punjab. The Punjab Police arrived at Amritsar airport with Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and, under strict security arrangements, departed for Batala. He has requested the High Court to issue special directions regarding his security.
In the petition, Jaggu has demanded that his life and liberty be protected while in custody. He has requested that he be handcuffed and shackled during police operations to prevent any security lapses, and that he be kept in an area under CCTV surveillance. He has also demanded that video recording of every action be made mandatory.
