Despite the interim orders issued by the Honorable Supreme Court, 463,407 members of 149,604 ration card holder families in Punjab are wandering from ration depots to administrative offices in an attempt to receive free grain. However, despite all their efforts, these e-Shram ration card holders have not received the benefit of free wheat for the past 9 months. Following a reprimand from the Honorable Supreme Court, the Punjab government instructed the Food and Supply Department to issue e-Shram ration cards to nearly 150,000 laborer families across Punjab. However, all these families have been deprived of their rights for a long time and have been visiting ration depots and departmental offices for the past 9 months to receive the free wheat.
