A new twist has emerged in the case of the newborn baby found abandoned among thorns in the Kot Mitt Singh area, under the Bhai Manjpur locality on Tarn Taran Road. The mother of the newborn, who miraculously survived, has been identified as Amandeep Kaur, a resident of Kot Mitt Singh, and the father as Sukhwinder Singh. The police have started an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, Paramjit Kaur, the woman who rescued the child, has demanded strict legal action against those responsible for this heinous and inhumane act and has also expressed her willingness to adopt the newborn. Paramjit Kaur has appealed to the police to take legal action against the couple for this shameful incident. The case has become a major topic of discussion throughout the city, and people are demanding action against those who committed this act that shames humanity. Paramjit Kaur alleged that the child’s father, Sukhwinder Singh, has changed his statements. She said that in the morning, Sukhwinder Singh was denying that the child was his, but now he is changing his statement, claiming that his wife, Amandeep, is mentally unstable.
What was the case?
It is noteworthy that this case came to light two nights ago when some people from the area and Paramjit Kaur heard a baby crying. When the residents investigated, they found a newborn baby lying abandoned among thorns and bushes in an empty plot in the area. The locals and Paramjit Kaur informed the police around midnight. The baby was rescued from the bushes and admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital for treatment. Considering the condition of the newborn, the doctors placed the baby in the ICU. What the Child’s Father Has to Say
On the other hand, the newborn’s father, Sukhwinder Singh, has given a completely different twist to the case by claiming that his wife (the child’s mother) is mentally ill. He distanced himself from the entire incident, stating that he was unaware of his wife’s pregnancy. In his statement, he said that he works as a decorator and had been away in Jammu city for work for the past 15 days. He only returned to Amritsar this morning after learning about the incident. He claimed that his wife gave birth to the child in the bathroom and, due to her mental illness, threw the baby into the bushes in a vacant plot outside. He further revealed that this is the second marriage for both of them, and they each have a son and a daughter from their previous marriages.
Investigation Begins, Statements of Both Parties Recorded: Investigating Officer
Since the incident came to light, the police at B Division police station have started an investigation. Investigating officer ASI Balwinder Singh stated that the statements of both parties have been recorded. The family claims that the woman was mentally unstable. He said that the senior officers have been informed about the entire matter, and further action will be taken based on their instructions.
