A shocking case that shames humanity has emerged from Phillaur in Punjab. A 14-year-old minor girl was repeatedly raped by a relative. The pregnant girl gave birth to a child, but the newborn died six days later.
According to reports, the girl gave birth to the child at home. The family buried the newborn’s body, but the police have now exhumed the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The victim told the police that her family is very poor and her parents are daily wage laborers. Due to the difficulty in making ends meet, her mother often left her alone at home. During that time, a man whom she called “uncle” frequently came to the house and repeatedly raped her after threatening her.
The girl said that when she became pregnant, she told her mother, but due to poverty and helplessness, her mother left her at the house of a relative living near Phillaur. When her condition worsened, her mother’s brother started taking her to the hospital, but she gave birth to the child on the way. Considering the girl’s young age, local doctors provided basic treatment and then referred her to Jalandhar. According to the family, the child died six days later, and the body was buried. The police have now registered a zero FIR and arrested the accused based on the girl’s complaint.
