Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula are experiencing a severe cold wave with dense fog, cold to severe cold wave conditions, and ground frost. Night temperatures have dropped to 3.3°C in Chandigarh, 3.6°C below normal, while day temperatures are at 14.3°C, 4.1°C below normal.
The region is under a red alert for dense fog and cold wave conditions on Tuesday, followed by a yellow alert from Wednesday to Saturday. Expect minimum temperatures to range from 3°C to 6°C and maximum temperatures between 13-16°C, with partly cloudy skies and dense fog spells.
Bathinda, Punjab, recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 0.6°C, while Narnaul, Haryana, was at 1.2°C, marking the harshest cold spell this season. In contrast, Shimla had a minimum temperature of 8.8°C and maximum of 17.2°C, making Tricity colder than the hills.
