A major accident was narrowly averted late at night near Dhillon Ground on Noorwala Road, when a car driven by a heavily intoxicated young man got stuck in a deep pothole on the road. According to eyewitnesses, the driver was under the influence of alcohol and failed to spot the pothole lying ahead, causing the vehicle to get stuck abruptly.
Chaos ensued at the scene following the incident. People present nearby immediately rushed to help, safely extracting the driver, while the vehicle itself was eventually pulled out after considerable effort. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported during the incident.
Raising questions regarding the administration’s accountability, local residents stated that the potholes—which have existed on the road for a long time—are essentially inviting accidents. Additionally, demands have been raised for strict action to be taken against those driving under the influence of alcohol.
