Yesterday evening, in the Bhawanigarh area, certain miscreants attempted to take the law into their own hands. These individuals pelted stones at both the police and members of the general public. Adopting a strict stance on the matter, SSP Sangrur, Sartaj Singh Chahal, held a press conference to provide details regarding the action taken.
Following this incident in Bhawanigarh, the police took immediate action and registered FIR No. 94 at the Bhawanigarh Police Station. SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal stated that cases have been registered against the accused under various serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—including Sections 109 (Attempt to Murder), 304, 132, 221, 115(2), 324(5), 126(2), 285, 191(3), and 190—as well as under sections of the National Highway Act pertaining to damage to public property. The police formed teams to conduct raids at multiple locations, and so far, more than 10 accused individuals have been taken into custody.
