A case has come to light in Amritsar involving a serious death threat issued to BJP youth leader Saiansh Suri, raising concerns regarding the security situation in the city. Saiansh Suri—who also serves as the Vice President of the BJP Yuva Morcha (Youth Wing) in Amritsar—was threatened via a phone call from a foreign number on Tuesday morning. According to the information received, the call originated from a +44 (UK country code) number between approximately 10:56 AM and 10:57 AM. The caller identified himself as an affiliate of an organization named the “Punjab Resistance Front (PRF)” and, identifying himself specifically as “Shera Gangster,” issued a death threat against Saiansh Suri.
During the threatening call, the individual stated, “A grenade attack was recently carried out against a BJP member in Gurdaspur, and you are the next target. Your vehicle will be blown up.” Furthermore, the caller issued an open warning that other individuals associated with the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) would also be targeted. Compounding the gravity of the situation, Saiansh Suri also received—via social media—alleged press releases and posters issued in the name of the PRF, in which the organization claimed responsibility for the Gurdaspur attack and reiterated its threats against individuals associated with the BJP and RSS.
Following this incident, Saiansh Suri has submitted a written complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, demanding a high-level investigation into the matter. In his complaint, he has requested a technical analysis of the foreign phone number, the identification of the associated network, and measures to ensure the safety and security of both himself and his family.
According to sources, copies of this complaint have also been forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Ministry of Home Affairs, senior BJP leaders, and the Amritsar Police Commissioner, thereby further underscoring the seriousness of the case. This incident has surfaced at a time when concerns regarding militant activities in Punjab have been expressed periodically in the past. Experts believe that issuing such threats through foreign numbers points to an organized network, which requires a thorough investigation.
