Counter-Intelligence Jalandhar has exposed an ISI-backed espionage network. During this operation, the prime operative—Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha (from Ferozepur)—was arrested, and Chinese-made solar-powered CCTV devices equipped with 4G connectivity were recovered from Kapurthala. Preliminary investigations have revealed that Sukhwinder Singh, in collusion with his associates, was installing solar CCTV cameras at various locations to conduct surveillance on sensitive sites, including military installations. Through these cameras, live footage was being transmitted to Pakistan-based handlers via a mobile application. This information was disclosed by DGP Gaurav Yadav.
In this regard, an FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar. The police are currently engaged in an investigation to identify the accused’s network and other accomplices. The Punjab Police have affirmed that strict action will continue to be taken to dismantle espionage networks within the state and to maintain security.
