Panic ensued early Friday morning following a sudden fire outbreak at the shops within the fruit market located near the Sadar Police Station. In this incident, seven temporary shops in the market were reduced to ashes, and goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed by the flames.
Upon receiving information about the fire, a team of 10 personnel from the Fire Department rushed to the scene and immediately launched a rescue operation. Two fire tenders managed to bring the blaze under control after battling it for approximately one and a half hours. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. According to information provided by the Fire Department, the report of the fire at the fruit market was received around 5:07 AM. Acting swiftly upon the alert, two fire tenders and a team led by firefighter Gurpreet Singh arrived at the site.
Firefighter Gurpreet Singh stated that the team took immediate action to initiate firefighting operations and, after considerable effort, successfully brought the fire under control. However, by that time, seven shops within the market had already been completely reduced to ashes. The incident created an atmosphere of chaos and commotion in the area. An assessment of the damage caused by the fire is currently underway.
