Amidst the scorching heat that has been wreaking havoc, rain accompanied by strong winds and storms is expected to arrive in Punjab starting today, offering much-needed relief to the public.
**Orange Alert Issued for Several Districts on May 30**
Ahead of the pre-monsoon showers, several districts in Punjab witnessed brief spells of light drizzle lasting just a few minutes, leading to a drop of up to 2 degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature across the state. Dark clouds suddenly gathered in the morning sky, but they drifted away without shedding any rain. Meanwhile, Faridkot recorded a maximum temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department had issued a Red Alert for May 29, followed by an Orange Alert for several districts on May 30.
Meanwhile, in Haryana, a change in weather conditions during the afternoon brought relief to several areas in the form of rain and hailstorms. In Nuh, a severe storm late Thursday evening caused the collapse of a wall at the Senior Secondary School in Tapkan village; five students were trapped beneath the debris, resulting in the death of Mohammad Ayan, while four other children sustained serious injuries. Additionally, in Chandeni village of Nuh, a student named Anshed (9) lost his life after a house wall collapsed.
