Student returns home after exam, enters room; what followed left everyone shaken

Date:

Yesterday afternoon, a 22-year-old student from the nearby village of Sito Gunno committed suicide by hanging himself in his room. It is reported that he had just returned from Bathinda after taking a competitive examination. He reportedly took his own life because the exam had not gone well. The police from Bahawwala station have placed the deceased’s body in the local government hospital’s mortuary.

According to information provided by Kuldeep—the uncle of the deceased, Rahul (son of Ramkishan, aged approximately 22)—Rahul had been preparing for job-related competitive exams after completing his 12th-grade education. He had recently appeared for such an exam in Bathinda.

Family members stated that Rahul returned home around 3 PM after studying at the village library and went to his room to rest. Some time later, when his sister entered the room, she found Rahul hanging and raised an alarm. Family members rushed to the spot and brought him down, but he had already passed away.

The Sito police outpost was informed of the incident. Assistant Sub-Inspector Lakhwinder Singh reported the matter to the Bahawwala police station and arranged for the body to be kept in the mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Bahawwala stated that the police have recorded the family’s statements and placed the body in the mortuary; a post-mortem will be conducted.
