Residents of the area surrounding S.D. College Road in Jalandhar’s Ward No. 25 have been facing severe difficulties due to a disruption in the drinking water supply for the past 36 hours. Deprived of water, locals are being forced to run from pillar to post to meet needs ranging from drinking water to other daily requirements.
Locals allege that the concerned tubewell operator was on leave, and no other employee stepped in to operate the tubewell in his absence. This negligence led to a disruption in the water supply for the entire area, leaving residents struggling for water amidst the scorching heat.
Residents state that despite lodging multiple complaints, the issue was not resolved in a timely manner. Children, the elderly, and women are facing the greatest hardship. Area residents have demanded that the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation immediately restore the water supply and take strict action against the employees responsible for this negligence to prevent such a situation from recurring in the future.
