In a village near Batala, the accused, Manjot Singh, used his friend’s pistol to shoot and kill his 40-year-old aunt, Hardeep Kaur, and her 13-year-old son, Harmeet Singh, while they were asleep at home. During the incident, Manjot Singh also killed his friend, Pargat, before shooting himself dead.
According to reports, late Tuesday night, Manjot Singh arrived at the home of his uncle, Nishan Singh, in Mundi Kalar village, accompanied by his associate Pargat Singh—a former army soldier and resident of Khan Pyara. Manjot Singh was carrying his friend Pargat Singh’s pistol.
Upon arrival, Manjot Singh immediately shot and killed his 40-year-old aunt, Hardeep Kaur, and her 13-year-old son, Harmeet Singh. Subsequently, an altercation broke out between Manjot Singh and Pargat Singh. A short distance from the scene of the initial murders, Manjot Singh shot and killed his friend Pargat Singh and then took his own life by shooting himself in the head.
It is reported that the accused, Manjot Singh, had lost both his parents and used to take his meals at his aunt’s house. The motive behind the murders remains unknown.
The Sekhwan police have sent all the bodies to Batala Civil Hospital for further proceedings. So far, no formal complaint has been lodged with the police.
