Anger is mounting among Sikh organizations over an allegedly controversial social media statement made by Uttarakhand resident Ashish Negi. Gurcharan Singh Grewal, a member and former General Secretary of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has reacted sharply to the statement and demanded immediate, strict legal action from the government. He stated that such inflammatory and provocative remarks create tension in society and must not be overlooked under any circumstances.
Gurcharan Singh Grewal remarked that the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984 represents a dark chapter in the nation’s history, and any objectionable comments or inflammatory statements regarding it deeply hurt Sikh sentiments. He added that while the Sikh community always believes in peace, brotherhood, and the spirit of ‘Sarbat da Bhala’ (welfare of all), some individuals are deliberately attempting to provoke the community.
