Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has submitted a clarification to Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Speaking to the media, President Harjinder Singh Dhami made a significant statement regarding matters concerning Akal Takht Sahib and the ongoing speculation about his resignation. Dhami stated that he had been appointed chairman of a seven-member committee under a *Hukumnama* (edict) issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. When he had previously resigned from the post of SGPC President for certain reasons, he had handed over his resignation to Jaspal Singh, the then-PA (Personal Assistant) to the Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar. He noted that while there is talk in the media about him being summoned to Akal Takht Sahib, he has done nothing wrong. Dhami asserted that he had offered his clarification to the *Singh Sahibans* (high-ranking clergy) both then and now, adding that the next decision rests with Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Regarding the clarification provided, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami explained that a seven-member committee concerning recruitment for the Shiromani Akali Dal had been formed on December 2, 2024, and his name was included in it; however, for certain reasons, he had submitted a letter to the then-Jathedar, Giani Raghbir Singh, requesting the withdrawal of his name from the committee. Dhami mentioned that some opponents are expressing anger over this issue and demanding that he be summoned to Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He stated that he has voluntarily offered his clarification to the Jathedar and will accept whatever decision the Jathedar makes regarding him.
On this occasion, Dhami also stated that he would soon reveal further details regarding the ongoing discussions surrounding the seven-member committee. He alleged that certain media reports were being misrepresented, whereas the truth is that there was no misunderstanding on his part. He emphasized the supremacy of the Akal Takht Sahib, stating that the decisions of the Singh Sahibs are paramount for everyone and that it is the duty of every Sikh to respect them. He also commented on the Bhagwant Mann government and other political matters, affirming that any directive issued by the Akal Takht Sahib would be implemented in accordance with Panthic traditions. Dhami stated that he had already clarified his position previously and had today apprised the Singh Sahibs of the entire situation; the decision would now be taken in accordance with the will of the Akal Takht Sahib.
