On Sunday evening, local residents—led by BJP leader Amrik Singh Happy—staged a protest against a liquor shop opened opposite the residential area at Sector-123, Sunny Enclave, Jandpur Road, demanding its immediate relocation.
Residents pointed out that the shop is situated with residential areas on both its front and back sides. They stated that the shop is causing daily hardships for local residents, particularly women and children.
Locals noted that school buses stop right in front of the shop, where parents gather to drop off and pick up their children. They alleged that many individuals consume alcohol outside the shop, and some migrant workers lie there in an intoxicated state, creating an atmosphere of insecurity and discomfort for women and girls.
The protesters emphasized that since there are homes directly in front of and behind the shop, it must be immediately shifted to a more suitable location. They warned the administration that if the shop is not removed within 15 days, they would launch an intense agitation and stage a road blockade to register their protest.
