Unidentified bike-borne miscreants opened rapid fire at the residence of the incumbent Sarpanch, Manjinder Singh, in Chor Sidhwan village—located within the jurisdiction of the Sadar Police Station—late at night. The incident has created an atmosphere of panic in the area. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.
According to reports, two unidentified youths arrived at the Sarpanch’s house on a motorcycle late at night. One of them dismounted, stood in front of the main gate, and suddenly began firing rapidly. Both accused fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Two bullet marks were found on the main gate, and the police recovered four empty shell casings from the spot.
Sarpanch Manjinder Singh stated that he had returned home around midnight. Around 1:30 AM, he heard some noises but ignored them, assuming someone was setting off firecrackers. When he woke up in the morning, he found two empty bullet casings inside the house and immediately informed the Sadar Police. The Sarpanch mentioned that he had never received any extortion calls, nor did he have any enmity with anyone that would warrant such an attack on his home. Upon being notified of the incident, DSP Shahbaz Singh and a police team from the Gurdaspur Sadar station arrived at the scene to begin the investigation. The police are currently examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify and swiftly arrest the perpetrators.
