A broad-daylight shooting incident in Darauli Kalan village, under the Adampur area of Jalandhar district, sent shockwaves through the region on Monday morning. A young man who had arrived to visit a friend was killed in a hail of gunfire. The deceased has been identified as Davinder, alias Baja, a resident of Dhamuda village. Acting swiftly, the police have arrested one of the accused involved in the case.
The police have also recovered the pistol used in the crime from the accused’s possession. Following the incident, the police are conducting continuous raids to apprehend the other accused. According to reports, Davinder (alias Baja) had arrived at the home of his friend, Manpreet Singh (alias Gangu), in Darauli Kalan village around 11 AM on Monday. It is reported that the two were conversing when three youths arrived on a motorcycle and entered the house. Shortly thereafter, a dispute arose over an issue, which rapidly escalated into a violent clash. Deceased hit by four bullets.
According to eyewitnesses, the accused fired seven to eight rounds in rapid succession during the altercation. Four of these bullets struck Davinder; he was hit in the leg, abdomen, and head, resulting in his death on the spot. The assailants fled the scene after the incident. Locals rushed to the spot upon hearing the sound of gunfire, but by then, the young man had already succumbed to his injuries.
