A woman died on the spot and the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a collision between a car and a motorcycle near the Radha Soami Satsang Bhawan in Khatkar Kalan village, located on the Banga-Nawanshahr National Highway. According to information gathered at the scene, Sunil Kumar (a resident of Banga) was riding his motorcycle (PB 78 B 0677) with Krishna Kumari (wife of Parmanand, also a resident of Banga) as a pillion rider; they were heading towards the Radha Soami Satsang Bhawan in Khatkar Kalan village.
As the two reached near the Satsang Bhawan, an Alto car (JK 22C 8571)—driven by Shabbir Mohammad from Jammu & Kashmir, who was traveling with his family to Tata Cancer Hospital in Chandigarh to fetch medication for a relative—struck their motorcycle from behind.
As a result, the pillion rider, Krishna Kumari, died on the spot, while the motorcyclist, Sunil Kumar, was critically injured; bystanders immediately rushed him to the nearby Guru Nanak Mission Hospital. Upon receiving news of the accident, a police team led by ASI Baljinder Kumar and ASI Satnam Singh from the Sadar Police Station arrived at the scene. They took the damaged vehicles and the body of the deceased woman into custody and initiated further legal proceedings.
