A case of a youth allegedly being shot dead due to an old rivalry has come to light in Shahura village, Amritsar, early Saturday morning. The deceased was the only son of his parents. An atmosphere of grief and panic prevails in the village following the incident. Although the injured youth was immediately rushed to the hospital, doctors declared him dead. The police have initiated an investigation and are searching for the accused.
The deceased’s father, Lahaura Singh, stated that his son, Guravtar Singh, had a long-standing feud with some youths from the village. According to him, late Friday night, village residents Gurjant Singh, Honey Dande, and their associates arrived at their farmhouse on motorcycles. It is alleged that they called out to Guravtar Singh, asking him to step outside.
Lahaura Singh recounted that as soon as his son stepped out, an altercation broke out between the two groups. The dispute escalated rapidly. It is alleged that Gurjant Singh and Honey drew pistols and fired multiple rounds at Guravtar Singh. He sustained serious gunshot wounds and collapsed on the spot.
**Police investigation begins**
Family members and locals immediately rushed the injured youth to the hospital. Doctors attempted to save him, but he passed away during treatment. News of the youth’s death plunged the family into deep shock and mourning. His parents are inconsolable over the loss of their only son. A pall of gloom has descended upon the village.
