Despite a strike by Punjab government employees—who are pressing for demands such as the release of Dearness Allowance (DA) and the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS)—bus operations at the Amritsar bus stand remained normal on Thursday morning. The movement of passengers and buses at the terminal appeared just as it would on any ordinary day. Employees of Punjab Roadways, Punbus, and PRTC decided against striking on August 27; consequently, buses continued to operate on various routes from the Amritsar bus stand, bringing relief to passengers.
Meanwhile, employees from other state government departments are on mass leave, disrupting the functioning of government offices and various public services. These employees are agitating over several demands, including the release of pending DA, the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, and the regularization of temporary and contractual staff.
