SIR notices issued to 1.46 lakh people in Punjab; crowds throng camps for enrollment—keep these documents ready in advance.

During the SIR survey, 1.46 lakh people in the district could not be mapped. In the second phase, after receiving verification notices, people flocked to camps organized by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) under the district administration.

Issues range from a failure to map details with the 2003 voter list to discrepancies in the documents of family members. Consequently, even after obtaining tokens, it is taking people three to four hours to get their work done. The first phase of the SIR survey was conducted from June 25 to August 3. During this period, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) distributed enumeration forms door-to-door to a total of 1,649,946 voters in the district. Of these, 1,464,949 voters submitted their forms, while forms were not received from 184,997 voters.

Among these voters, 50,520 were found to be deceased, 94,356 had shifted elsewhere, 8,961 were duplicate entries, 30,157 were absent or untraceable, and 1,003 fell into other categories. Additionally, the draft voter list contains 146,551 voters whose details could not be mapped against the 2003 voter list. Verification notices have been issued to all these individuals for the second phase. Camps are being organized at various locations and on different dates to process these cases; however, due to the large crowds and the time-consuming nature of the mapping process, people are having to wait two to three hours for their turn.

Tokens are being issued to manage the crowds at the camps, yet people still face long waiting times. Arrangements ranging from seating to drinking water have been made at the camp. The camp will be held at the PUDA complex on Thursday.

**North:** Chief Administrator (JDA) Tejdeep Singh Saini
**Central:** SDM-1 Shubhi Angra
**Cantt:** RTO Baljinder Singh Dhillon
**Adampur:** SDM Lal Vishwas
**Phillaur:** SDM Deepak Bhatia
**Nakodar:** SDM Simranjit Singh

**Father’s name missing from 2003 voter list; documents requisitioned**
Suresh Kumar, who received a notice at the camp set up in the PUDA complex, stated that he was a minor in 2003, and his father’s name was not included in the voter list from that time. Consequently, documents bearing his father’s name have been requisitioned from the village. Leela Rani mentioned that while she is registered as a voter, there is a spelling error in her husband’s name; documents showing the correct spelling of her husband’s name have been requested to rectify this.

**Documents to submit upon receiving a notice**
Upon receiving a notice, one may submit a birth certificate, Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving license, 10th or 12th-grade certificate, or passport as proof of age.

For proof of residence, documents such as a bank or post office passbook, electricity, water, or gas bill, Aadhaar card, passport, registered rent agreement, or registered sale deed may be submitted. A recent passport-sized color photograph must also be provided along with the application.
