A dispute stemming from an old rivalry turned deadly late Sunday night in the Ranjit Nagar area of Patiala city. Tanveer, a 17-year-old ninth-grade student, was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon while partying with friends on the roof of his house. He succumbed to his severe injuries. The incident has created an atmosphere of panic in the area.
According to reports, Tanveer was partying with some friends on his rooftop late Sunday night when a dispute arose with some neighbors. It is alleged that there was a long-standing feud between the two parties dating back to their time as school classmates. An argument broke out over this old rivalry, and the situation escalated rapidly. Eyewitness accounts suggest a scuffle ensued between the two groups, during which the opposing party attacked Tanveer with a sharp-edged weapon. The attack was severe, causing Tanveer to collapse on the roof. Family members and neighbors rushed him to the hospital for treatment, but he died due to the severity of his injuries.
Police examine CCTV footage
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Tripri police arrived at the scene. In addition to inspecting the crime scene, the police have begun examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras. They are also questioning individuals who were present at the location during the incident.
SP Mohit Agarwal stated that the preliminary investigation reveals a dispute occurred with neighbors during the party, leading to the attack on Tanveer. The police are investigating all aspects of the case.
