On Tuesday, three districts in Punjab received rainfall; Pathankot recorded 49.8 mm, while Ropar and Hoshiarpur recorded 19.8 mm and 3.8 mm, respectively.
Due to the heavier rainfall in Pathankot, the daytime temperature there stood at 29°C—the lowest in the state. Ropar recorded a temperature of 32.8°C. The weather remained clear in other districts, with daytime temperatures ranging between 34°C and 35°C.
Temperatures recorded were 35.5°C in Ludhiana, 35.7°C in Patiala, 35.5°C in Amritsar, and 33.2°C in Jalandhar. Meanwhile, according to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, the monsoon is set to become active starting Wednesday.
Consequently, heavy rainfall is likely in several districts of Punjab until September 5, with a particularly high probability of heavy rain in districts bordering Himachal Pradesh. The weather is expected to clear up from September 6 onwards.
