BJP Sounds Election Bugle in Punjab; PM Modi, Shah, and Nitin Navin to Stir Up Political Activity

Date:

With approximately six months remaining until the Punjab Assembly elections, the BJP has intensified its electoral activities in the state. The party has begun outlining a schedule for visits by its top leadership during September and October.

Preparations are underway within the party regarding the prospective visits of National President Nitin Navin, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to sources, Prime Minister Modi may spend three days in Punjab in October, although the specific dates for the visit have not yet been finalized. The party aims to center his program around Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Patiala. Under the proposed itinerary, the Prime Minister might conduct a roadshow passing through several assembly constituencies in the Majha region on the first day. The Radha Soami Satsang Beas headquarters is being considered as a venue for his overnight stay.

Deliberations are also ongoing regarding a public rally to be addressed by the Prime Minister. Some BJP leaders are in contact with the national leadership to organize a rally in either Bathinda or Patiala. The possibility of a roadshow stretching from Bathinda to Patiala is also being explored. The final itinerary for the visit will be prepared jointly by the Prime Minister’s Office and the BJP’s national leadership.

**Deliberations on Central Announcements**

The Prime Minister’s visit is considered crucial from an electoral standpoint. The party is assessing which schemes, projects, or announcements the central government might unveil for Punjab.

Simultaneously, discussions have begun regarding potential promises to be presented to the public.

**Campaign Against Drugs and Law & Order Issues Starting September 18**

As part of this initiative, BJP National President Nitin Navin will launch a campaign in Punjab on September 18, focusing on the issues of drug abuse and the law-and-order situation. The BJP is strategizing to make drug abuse and the deteriorating law-and-order situation key issues in the upcoming assembly elections.

Additional campaigns will also be conducted in other parts of the state between September 19 and 21. Consideration is being given to launching these journeys from Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, and Fazilka.

A bike rally will also be organized during the course of the journey. The party plans to take these journeys to all 117 assembly constituencies across the state.

The journeys are proposed to conclude in Jalandhar, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah may address a large rally. While the date has not yet been finalized, the rally is likely to take place on September 29 or 30.

Preparations are underway to assign responsibility for leading these journeys to over a dozen Union ministers, national office-bearers, and senior leaders. A final decision regarding the schedule, the journeys originating from three other cities, and the date of Amit Shah’s rally is expected to be taken during a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday.

State in-charge Dr. Satish Poonia, State President Kewal Singh Dhillon, and State Organization Secretary Manthri Srinivasulu are likely to attend the meeting. Amit Shah is also expected to participate.
