The Punjab Police is intensifying its crackdown on gangsters who operate criminal networks in Punjab while based abroad. As part of this ongoing effort, Karamvir Singh—a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi—was taken into custody by the Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport following his deportation from Canada.
Karamvir is accused of providing a hideout and logistical support to Lawrence’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, in the United States. Recently, another wanted gangster was also brought back to India from Europe.
Through continuous action against gangsters hiding overseas, the Punjab Police is now working to dismantle their international networks. According to the police, a case has been registered against Karamvir Singh at the State Crime Police Station in Mohali under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Arms Act, and the Passport Act. The AGTF Punjab had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him on September 3, 2026. He was detained by the AGTF immediately upon his arrival in Delhi after being deported from Canada.
Provided a hideout to Anmol in the US
Investigations have revealed that Karamvir provided a place for Anmol Bishnoi to hide in the United States. Additionally, he extended logistical support to him.
The police are now investigating whom Karamvir collaborated with while in contact with Anmol and determining his specific role within the network of gangsters operating from abroad.
Involved in multiple cases including murder, extortion, and robbery
Karamvir has a criminal history. His involvement has been established in several criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act.
Following his arrest, the AGTF will now investigate his past cases as well as his connections abroad. Crackdown on overseas hideouts intensifies
The Punjab Police is continuously tightening the noose around gangsters operating from abroad and their accomplices. Following the recent extradition of a wanted gangster from Europe to India, the deportation of Karamvir from Canada is now considered the next significant step in this campaign. The police are also focusing on identifying individuals who provide hideouts, funds, and other logistical support to gangsters hiding overseas. The AGTF states that as the investigation progresses, the names of other individuals linked to the network may also come to light.
