The circulating video shows the injured inmate lying on a hospital bed. He is holding a mobile phone and appears to be conversing with someone. Police personnel are also visible nearby. This raises the question of how a mobile phone reached an inmate who was supposed to be under a security cordon.
**Investigation into the Guard’s Role**
Following the circulation of the video, an investigation is underway to determine under whose instructions the guard on duty provided the mobile phone to the inmate. Reports indicate that four days ago, the inmate, Md. Farman, managed to evade the police and escape by scaling the approximately 20-foot-high wall of the Darbhanga Divisional Jail. He broke his leg during the escape and subsequently hid in a temple. The police apprehended him there and admitted him to DMCH for treatment.
