Jai Singh Rathore (alias Ajayveer Singh), a resident of Bah, is accused of soliciting funds from the public by using allegedly forged medical documents from Delhi’s Shroff Eye Centre. He had raised financial aid through an emotional online appeal claiming his 12-year-old sister required eye surgery.
An influencer, Madan Mohan Soni—a resident of Idgah, Rakabganj—has lodged a formal complaint at the Bah police station regarding the matter. In the appeal posted on his X account, the accused, Jai Singh Rathore, claimed his sister was suffering from glaucoma and vitreous hemorrhage and was at risk of losing her eyesight. Moved by the emotional appeal, people stepped forward to help. Financial assistance was sought citing a lack of funds for treatment and eye surgery in Delhi. Following the appeal, many people contributed; reports indicate that approximately ₹2.5 lakh was raised. Later, details regarding payments were removed, and it was claimed that sufficient funds had been secured. The fraud came to light when influencer Madan Mohan Soni, growing suspicious, contacted Shroff Eye Centre. The hospital denied that the patient was registered with them and warned that the documents—purportedly containing patient records, prescriptions, consultation details, and cost estimates on their letterhead—were fake. Soni then asked Rathore to return the fraudulently collected funds to the donors, but the accused began making various excuses. Bah Inspector DP Tiwari stated that a case has been registered and the accused has been arrested; evidence is currently being gathered.
