The transport of an ‘Over-Dimension Cargo’ (ODC) boiler machine—weighing approximately 200 tons and originally shipped from Belgium to Odisha—is now reaching Varanasi. After overcoming the obstacle of marshy terrain near Revsa village, the machine is expected to arrive in Varanasi by the afternoon, where it will be stationed briefly on the service road.
Consequently, the trailer carrying the boiler machine remained parked on the Ring Road’s service lane on Sunday. A team worked throughout the day to repair the route. Ramesh Kumar Yadav, the Crime Inspector of Alinagar Police Station, was present at the site with a police team to manage the crowds gathering to catch a glimpse of the massive machine. The machine is expected to resume its journey on Monday. This 200-ton machine is being transported by road from Odisha on a trailer equipped with 308 wheels. It is destined for installation at a plant currently under construction in Balrampur, within the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh. The trailer, which had departed from the Naubatpur border on Friday, was halted on the highway near Katsila due to nightfall. Meanwhile, the police administration in Varanasi has also begun making necessary preparations.
On Saturday, a plan was devised to divert the trailer via an alternative route because of a Ring Road bridge located on the highway near Pachphedwa. The initial plan involved moving the machine onto the Ring Road, but this proved unfeasible. On Sunday, the machine reached the Ring Road’s service lane near Revsa, where the trailer had to be stopped due to marshy ground ahead.
Subsequently, the machine is to be brought back onto NH-19. Road repair work is currently underway to ensure the machine can proceed safely. Meanwhile, signage and boards along the highway are being removed by the NHAI to clear the path for the machine, which stands approximately eight meters tall and seven meters wide.
The boiler machine is currently in the final leg of its journey and will proceed further after a brief halt in Varanasi. It is expected to reach the Balrampur Sugar Mill within two weeks. Thanks to the proactive efforts of the local administration and police, the transportation of this massive machine is proceeding smoothly without disrupting traffic in the area. Coordination among all relevant departments is crucial to ensuring the machine reaches its destination safely.
