On Tuesday, leakage in the Saran Main Embankment near Singhorwa village (Sadar Block) intensified due to rat holes. Upon receiving reports of increased water seepage, a team from the Gandak Department arrived at the site and accelerated relief and rescue operations. Department officials and personnel are working continuously to ensure the safety of the embankment.
As news of the leakage spread, residents from nearby villages gathered at the site. Villagers remain concerned about the safety of the embankment. The department has identified the leakage point and initiated the placement of geo-bags. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to plug the rat holes and control the water seepage. Continuous monitoring of the leakage site is being maintained.
It is reported that water has spread to low-lying areas following a rise in the Gandak River’s water level. Due to the inundation, many families have left their homes in search of safer locations; consequently, some have taken shelter on the Saran Main Embankment itself. With people occupying various sections of the embankment, ensuring their safety and providing essential amenities has become a challenge for the administration. The Gandak Department team is constantly monitoring the leakage site, and necessary resources have been deployed to safeguard the embankment. Local residents are also being urged to remain vigilant near the embankment.
