PM Surya Ghar Yojana (Bhagalpur): Administrative efforts have intensified to promote clean and renewable energy in rural areas and provide relief to ordinary families from exorbitant electricity bills. A high-level review meeting regarding the effective and time-bound implementation of the ‘PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’ (Free Electricity Scheme) was held on Monday at the TRYSEM Bhawan auditorium within the Pirpainti Block office premises in Bhagalpur district.
The meeting was presided over by Block Development Officer (BDO) Abhimanyu Kumar. In addition to officials from various block-level departments, Junior Engineers (JEs) from the electricity supply division and representatives from the Block Level Bankers Committee (BLBC) were notably present. Discussions focused on solar rooftop systems, bank loans, and government subsidies.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on various aspects of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, including its core objectives, the selection of genuine and eligible beneficiaries, the technical process of installing solar rooftop systems on residential roofs, the availability of accessible bank loans, and the grants (subsidies) provided by the central government.
BDO Abhimanyu Kumar instructed the concerned departmental officials and bank managers to launch special awareness and publicity campaigns at the panchayat and village levels. He emphasized the need to provide the general public and eligible families with comprehensive information regarding the online application process, the financial assistance available under the scheme, and the simplified terms for bank loans, so that the maximum number of people could be motivated to participate.
Emphasis on coordination between the Electricity Department and banks.
The BDO clarified that the primary goal of this ambitious scheme is to minimize electricity expenses for as many families as possible by connecting them to the solar energy network and to promote eco-friendly, clean energy. He directed the engineers from the electricity department and the bank representatives to work in close coordination with one another. He directed that the entire process—comprising the physical verification of beneficiary applications received on the portal, loan approval at the bank level, installation of rooftop solar panels, and the subsequent release of the subsidy amount—be executed within the stipulated timeframe. The BDO urged all officials to work diligently to achieve the set targets on time.
