A triple murder case came to light in June in the Sigehalli area of Krishnarajapura, Bengaluru. J. Kenneth, a 25-year-old tech employee, stabbed his live-in partner Shweta’s family members to death.
Kenneth is accused of murdering Shweta’s parents and sister. A major revelation has emerged during the police investigation into the case: Kenneth had used AI to plan the deadly attack.
**Asked AI about methods to commit murder**
During the investigation, when the police examined Kenneth’s laptop search history, they discovered that he had used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to learn about methods for carrying out the attack. The search history revealed several chilling queries:
How to launch a lethal attack on people using a kitchen knife.
How to blind people using vinegar, chili powder, and chili paste.
How to break the knees of three people.
How to take down three burglars who have entered a house in a secluded area.
Beyond this, Kenneth also sought information from AI about weapons previously used in murders. He asked another question seeking advice on how to deal with persistent calls from banks regarding a friend’s loan and inquired about the process of declaring bankruptcy.
A senior police officer stated, “Kenneth never asked AI what the punishment for murder would be, nor did he ask if it was right to kill the people who were questioning his financial distress.”
The senior officer added, “He interacted with the AI regularly and treated it like a friend.” He might have been academically bright, but his practical knowledge and social conduct were very poor.
However, the police have not yet been able to determine what responses the AI gave to Kenneth. These queries were noted from the dropdown window visible on Google while the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was examining the laptop and other items.
The investigation also uncovered a shocking item at the crime scene: a bottle containing a mixture of vinegar and chili powder. DCP (Whitefield Division) Saidulu Adavath stated, “We have sent these items to the FSL for examination.”
**Three Murders Committed Over Unpaid Loans**
According to the 2,085-page charge sheet filed in the city court, Kenneth committed these three murders after receiving notices regarding loans taken from banks.
Kenneth’s live-in partner, Shweta, was a tech professional herself. Within a year, she had taken out loans totaling ₹52 lakh for Kenneth. This included a business loan of ₹30 lakh, personal loans of ₹8 lakh and ₹6 lakh from two banks, and ₹8 lakh borrowed from friends, relatives, classmates, and colleagues.
Shweta’s father, Somsundar (55), and mother, Muthulakshmi (50), discovered that their daughter had borrowed a substantial amount of money to help Kenneth. This revelation led to an argument between Shweta and her parents.
When Shweta’s father, Somsundar, questioned Kenneth about what he had done with the money and why the family was receiving notices for non-repayment, a confrontation ensued. A few days later, on the night of June 22, Kenneth entered their apartment at the Sai Green Apartment Complex in Seegehalli, and the dispute escalated into a bloody conflict. Kenneth attacked Shweta’s father Somsundar, mother Muthulakshmi, and sister Supriya (20). He stabbed them multiple times, resulting in the deaths of all three. According to the charge sheet, Shweta recounted in her statement to the court how Kenneth attacked her parents and sister while she watched helplessly.
