Late Wednesday night, an electric scooter and a motorcycle parked inside a house in Balbir Nagar Extension, Shahdara (East Delhi), caught fire. It is suspected that the scooter was being charged at the time. Due to the smoke generated by the fire, a brother and sister became trapped in a room on the ground floor of the house.
Upon receiving the alert, a fire department team arrived and successfully rescued both minors. They were subsequently transported to GTB Hospital via a CATS ambulance. After an examination, doctors reported that both were in stable condition.
Fire Involving Vehicles on the Ground Floor
The fire department stated that they received a report at 1:50 AM on Wednesday night regarding a fire involving vehicles on the ground floor of a house built on a 40-square-yard plot.
Two water tenders, one water bowser, one multi-combination fire rescue vehicle, and one quick-response vehicle were dispatched to the scene.
Siblings Trapped in a Room
The fire originated in an electric scooter and a motorcycle parked inside the house. Due to the smoke, Daksh (16) and his sister Kavya (15)—children of the homeowner, Rajendra—became trapped in a room on the ground floor.
Naresh Pal, a firefighter stationed on the multi-combination fire rescue vehicle, rescued both children. They were taken to the hospital, where they were found to be in stable condition. The fire was brought under control within an hour.
