On Wednesday afternoon, a man posing as a customer visited a jewelry store located near the canal on Sugar Mill Road in Narkatiaganj and fled with gold and silver jewelry worth approximately ₹10 lakh.
Upon receiving the information, the Shikarpur police arrived at the scene and have initiated an investigation. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is currently being examined. The shop owner, Bachcha Soni, reported that a young man had been visiting his store for the past three to four days under the pretext of wanting to purchase jewelry. On Wednesday, the man arrived on a motorcycle and asked to see some ornaments. Believing him to be a genuine customer, the shop owner began showing him various pieces. Claiming that he did not like what was shown, the man requested to see more.
The shop owner left the man in the store and went to retrieve more jewelry from another area. The key to the safe was kept under a cushion. When the shop owner returned, he discovered that gold and silver jewelry worth approximately ₹10 lakh was missing from the safe, and the man had fled the scene.
Following this, the shop owner went to the Shikarpur police station to file a complaint. Manoj Kumar Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shikarpur, stated that the incident is under investigation.
Efforts are underway to identify the accused by reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras. The thief will soon be identified and arrested.
