The Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), commenced on Friday across 21 centers in the city under strict security arrangements. Long queues of candidates formed outside the centers from early morning, awaiting entry for the first shift.
Each candidate underwent screening using metal detectors and facial recognition technology. This was followed by a thorough physical search, covering everything from their hair to their footwear. Female candidates were required to remove jewelry worn around their necks, noses, and ears before being permitted to enter the examination hall. Candidates were allowed inside only after the entire screening process was completed. Security personnel were stationed from early morning at various examination centers across the city, including Chacha Nehru Smarak Inter College and Maya Devi Balika Inter College in Govind Nagar, Subhash Smarak Inter College in Saket Nagar, Jawaharlal Nehru Inter College and Khalsa Girls Inter College in Kalyanpur, as well as centers in Harjinder Nagar. Separate arrangements were made at the entrance of each center for candidate identification and frisking. Special vigilance was exercised to ensure that no prohibited items could be brought into the examination halls.
