To make animal husbandry more profitable and a viable source of employment, the department is launching a training campaign. Programs will be held across all blocks of the district from November 17 to November 30, with a target of training 200 livestock farmers in each block.
A one-day training session was organized at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium under the Animal Husbandry Department’s training and extension scheme. The event, chaired by Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh, was attended by departmental officials, livestock extension officers, and paravets.
The training covered several initiatives, including the ‘Nandini’ and ‘Mini Nandini’ schemes under the ‘Nand Baba Milk Mission’, the ‘Chief Minister’s Indigenous Cattle Promotion Scheme’, and the ‘National Livestock Mission’—which includes support for goat rearing, pig farming, and livestock insurance. Discussions also addressed artificial insemination, breed improvement, vaccination, the use of deworming medication, balanced animal nutrition, and the diagnosis and treatment of infertility in livestock. Additionally, the potential for promoting layer poultry farming and egg production under the ‘Uttar Pradesh Poultry Development Policy-2022’ was highlighted.
Veterinary Officer Dr. Ravindra Kumar Chakraborty provided guidance on using the ‘Bharat Pashudhan’ (India Livestock) app. He explained to the paravets and ‘Pashu Mitras’ (livestock assistants) the process for uploading details regarding artificial insemination and vaccination activities onto the app. The training aims to increase the income of livestock farmers by raising awareness about better animal health, nutrition, and breed improvement.
