Panic gripped the entire area on Tuesday morning following the discovery of a mysterious drone at the Dhaula plant of the Trident Group—a prominent industrial establishment in the district. Occurring around 5:30 AM, the incident not only put the plant management on high alert but also prompted immediate action from the district police. The incident is being viewed as particularly sensitive given that, just two days prior, Trident Group founder and Padma Shri recipient Rajinder Gupta had left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
**How the Drone Was Discovered**
According to reports, around 5:30 AM on Tuesday, employees at the Trident Group’s Dhaula plant were performing their routine duties in the Wood Fiber Line section of the Paper Division. Suddenly, they spotted an unidentified object falling from the sky. Initially startled, the employees mustered the courage to approach the object, whereupon they realized it appeared to be a drone. Sensing the gravity of the situation, the employees immediately alerted their shift in-charge.
**Administration and Police Take Swift Action**
Without delay, the shift in-charge informed the plant’s Administrative Head, Rupinder Gupta, about the incident. Rupinder Gupta rushed to the scene and, after assessing the situation, relayed all relevant information to the District Police Chief, Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam. Taking the matter with extreme seriousness, the Police Chief immediately dispatched DSP Tapa, Jaskaran Singh, and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Rureke police station, Balwinder Singh, to the site. Additionally, a specialized Cyber Crime team was deployed to the scene to conduct a technical examination of the drone.
**Cyber Cell Conducts Thorough Technical Investigation**
Cyber Cell experts, Navjot Chahal and Jaswant Singh, arrived at the location and conducted a meticulous technical examination of the drone. The experts carefully inspected the device and gathered information regarding every aspect connected to it. The investigative team also surveyed the surrounding area in an effort to determine the drone’s origin, who had flown it, and its intended objective. The security arrangements at the plant were also subjected to a thorough review. Suspected to be a Chinese-made drone, it will be sent to a forensic laboratory.
Speaking to the media, District Police Chief Mohammad Sarfraz Alam stated that, at first glance, the drone appears to be of Chinese manufacture. He noted that such basic drones are typically readily available on online platforms like Amazon for a price ranging between ₹2,000 and ₹3,000. However, he clarified that the police are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and vigilance. He further informed that the drone would be sent to a specialized drone forensic laboratory for a detailed technical examination. The forensic analysis will help determine whether the drone was equipped with a camera or any other surveillance devices, and for what specific purpose it was being flown.
**Incident Viewed Through the Lens of Political Developments**
The most significant and widely discussed aspect of this entire episode is that the incident has surfaced at a time when the founder of the Trident Group, Padma Shri Rajinder Gupta, had—just two days prior—quit the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The discovery of an unidentified drone within his factory premises, occurring precisely two days after this political switch, has raised a multitude of questions. Speculation is rife among the public that someone may have attempted to conduct surveillance on the factory using the drone. However, the police have refrained from issuing any definitive statement regarding this angle so far, maintaining that the true picture will emerge only after the investigation is complete.
**Serious Questions Raised Regarding Industrial Security**
This incident has come to light at a juncture when alerts regarding the security of industrial establishments and sensitive locations have already been issued across the country. As the Trident Group is a prominent and major industrial conglomerate, the crash-landing of an unidentified drone within its premises is, naturally, a matter of grave concern. In the wake of this incident, the plant management has initiated a review of its internal security protocols, and it is anticipated that security measures will be further tightened in the coming days. The police have clarified that the full scope of the matter will become clear only after the forensic report is received, and future legal action will be determined based on those findings.
